Dear Colleagues,
The idea to organize a joint meeting bringing together several spine societies simultaneously and in the same location originated around the turn of the century. The Spineweek committee was tasked with the practical organization of such a conference, leading to the first SpineWeek meeting held in Porto, Portugal in 2004. This meeting was well received by individual participants, the involved scientific spine societies, and the supporting MedTech industry.
4 more Spineweeks followed: Geneva (Switzerland) in 2008, Amsterdam (The Netherlands) in 2012, and Singapore in 2016, one of the notable developments was the increase in participants from the Asia-Pacific region. This led the SpineWeek committee to consider moving east for the 2020 meeting. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, SpineWeek 2020 could not be held but was successfully rescheduled and took place from May 1-5, 2023, in Melbourne.
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that the next SpineWeek will take place in Montréal, Canada, in 2027. In addition to the usual participating spine societies such as the North American Spine Society (NASS) and the Brazilian Spine Society, we will now welcome other societies as well. SpineWeek meetings have been the origin of many scientific collaborations, bringing together clinicians and scientists from around the world and from diverse scientific societies.
We look forward to a truly exciting week in Montréal, both scientifically and socially.
